PDF formally launches telemedicine facility

ABBOTTABAD: People’s Doctors Forum (PDF) has formally launched telemedicine facility to provide free medical treatment to patients who have been suffering due to closure of hospitals and clinics across the province.

“Telemedicine is the only solution after lockdown in the country in the wake of spread coronavirus, as the entire heath system has badly been affected. Outdoor patients have been facing tremendous problems and closure of clinics have further deteriorated the situation,” former chief executive Ayub Medical Institution & President PDF Dr Nisar told journalists after formally launching telemedicine facility here on Tuesday. He said that a large number of patients have been suffering due to the existing situation of hospitals as well as clinics. He further said that telemedicine facility would be the only option, which would support hundreds of patients through telephone, internet & online facilities. He added that initially 10 doctors of different specialties have been taken on board including cardiology, medicine, pulmonology and ENT etc, which would be increased with the passage of time. He asked the federal as well as provincial government to patronise such type of initiatives in the change scenario.Dr Nisar Khan, who himself is a senior pulmonologist, claimed that COVID -19 has been spreading dangerously and expressed deep concern over non-provision of protective measures to health professionals including doctors, paramedics and nurses who have been involved in taking care of the coronavirus patients in quarantine centres. Dr. Nisar Khan asked the government to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for all health care providers including doctors, nurses & paramedics so that to protect their lives.
