MIRANSHAH: Five persons were killed and five others injured in two separate incidents in the Mir Ali subdivision of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) on Friday.
In both the incidents, two prominent tribal elders were said to be the target of the attackers. In the first incident, unknown people shot dead tribal elder, Malik Akbar Jan Wazir along with two other villagers in Khushali Torikhel village, 10 kilometres south of Mir Ali.
Three other villagers, travelling with him in the vehicle, sustained bullet injuries in the ambush. Meanwhile, two persons were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast.
The sources said some unknown persons had planted the IED apparently to target a tribalelder, Malik Nekam Khan but his son and nephew were killed and two villagers were injured in the blast. “Malik Nekam Khan had crossed while his son and nephew and other villagers were passing through the area after performing Friday prayer at the village mosque when the IED exploded at Eedak village in Mir Ali,” said a local.
