Mariska Hargitay ‘has absolutely no desire’ to return following ratings flop
Mariska Hargitay’s future is said to be in doubt after “disappointing ratings.”
According to Radar Online, the television star does not want to host Emmy again as this year’s Emmy Awards gained roughly 6.7 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, and attracted almost 10 percent less viewership than last year.
A source shared to the outlet, "Mariska gave this everything."
"She rehearsed endlessly, sang, danced, did comedy, changed costumes and carried a massive live broadcast. Waking up to headlines about disappointing ratings was crushing," it added.
"She's proud she did it, but she has absolutely no desire to put herself through that pressure again," the source further claimed.
However, the television network is not pointing fingers at the actress.
As per the outlet, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star, also received criticism for her opening musical number, one user wrote on Twitter, "I love Mariska down, but what is this opening number?"
While another wrote, "Oof, Mariska, I support all your rights and wrongs but this opening number…I cannot cringe any harder."
"Whoever Let Her Do That Should Be Sent to Jail," the third noted.
It is pertinent to mention here that after Jane Lynch’s hosting in 2011, Mariska became the first woman to host Emmy Awards in 15 years.
