Civil Defence Directorate to raise number of volunteers

PESHAWAR: The Civil Defense Directorate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has decided to increase the number of volunteers and establish a Civil Defense Training Academy in the merged districts to combat the deadly coronavirus.

The director, Civil Defense, Fahad Ikram Qazi, told reporters here on Wednesday, that directorate had directed volunteers to remain active and vigilant in the existing sensitive situation.

He said the Civil Defence volunteers were ready to perform duties and they would follow the directives of the Relief Department.

The director said the Civil Defense has 5,000 volunteers throughout the province but keeping in view the existing sensitive situation, the number would be hiked to 200,000.

He said the Civil Defence Directorate would impart training to the new volunteers like those who had always played a role in the natural calamities and natural disastrous.
