KP scorecard for Dec 2019 shows improvement in education sector

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED) has announced results of the District Performance Scorecard for December 2019, showing improvement in education sector.

The scorecard meeting for December was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education, said a press release issued here on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by the newly appointed Minister for E&SE Akbar Ayub Khan along with Special Secretary Zareeful Manni. E&SE Director Dr Hafiz Ibrahim, Project Director Independent Monitoring Unit Ziaul Haq and district education officers (DEOs) of all the districts attended the meeting.

The performance of 56 DEOs; 28 male and 28 female of the settled districts was assessed against the targets set in their District Education Plans. On each indicator, score was awarded if the DEO Office met the set target.

It was declared that student attendance rate of KP increased from 79 to 82 percent, with Haripur (females) having achieved 90 percent progress, Nowshera (males) 87.5 percent and Swabi (females) with 87.4 percent student attendance.

Also, the teachers’ attendance rate increased from 88 percent to 90 percent, with male teachers in Nowshera showing 92.49 percent attendance rate.

In addition, the meeting was told that percentage of availability of teachers and facilities in schools also registered an increase while results of grade-5, grade-8, grade-10, and grade-12 examinations also showed an improvement of over 3 percent on average.
