ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said Monday that timely completion of projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) will help accelerate the pace of development and increased creation of employment opportunities.
The prime minister observed this while presiding over a PSDP-2019-20 financial year meeting. The meeting took stock of the progress so far made in relations to the development projects across Pakistan.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Asad Umar, Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood, Minister for National Food Security Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chairman Planning Commission, Secretary Planning Commission and other senior officials.
The prime minister was given briefing on PSDP’s first and second quarterly progress reports.
On this count, a report on the various ministries progress vis-à-vis development projects was also presented to the prime minister. Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said that despite difficult economic difficulties, the government was trying its utmost for economic development after having achieved economic stability.
“Our vision is to put Pakistan on sustainable economic development and for this, long-term planning is of cardinal importance and for this, inter-ministerial coordination and cooperation is of paramount significance,” he emphasised.
He was informed during the meeting that the government had made
the process of approval of different projects and release of funds for the approved projects easy so that no project should face delay due to shortage of funds or any other reason.
The prime minister underscored the need for keeping an eye on execution and implementation of the projects and it must be ensured that no project falls victim to red-tapism or any other reason.
The prime minister emphasised that side by side with ensuring availability of resources for development projects the government wanted to include the private sector in the process and in this connection, the government was geared up to providing every possible facility to them.
