Slain poet laid to rest in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: The slain Pashto poet and writer, Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah alias Afgar Bukhari, was laid to rest at the Bukhari Shah graveyard on Thursday.

He was 62. Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah was shot dead by unidentified persons on Wednesday evening. His funeral prayer was offered at the Bukhari Shah graveyard at 2:30 pm and it was attended by a large number of people, including Shia Ulema Council central vice-president Allama Ramzan Tauqeer, provincial president Hameed Hussain Imami, Allama Kazim Hussain Mutahri, Allama Bashir Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir and other officials, poets, writers and his poetic fans.

An unidentified armed man shot him dead at his hujra in Lakki City at 8:30pm. His relatives placed the body on the Lakki-Mianwali road and blocked it for an hour in protest and opened it after being assured by Deputy Commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir. He is survived by a wife, seven sons and a daughter.
