MANSEHRA: Local government employees held a protest demonstration here on Friday to demand suspension of deputy commissioner of Torghar and registration of a first information report against him, as they alleged the official was behind an attack on tehsil municipal officer. The DC vehemently refuted the allegation, saying that he was not involved in attack on TMO of Kunder Hassanzai earlier this week.

The protesters led by provincial president of Local Governments Employee’s Federation Shaukat Kiyani assembled outside the press club and raised slogans in support of their demands. “We don’t accept inquiry committee constituted by commissioner of the Hazara division under the deputy commissioner, Mansehra as we want an impartial probe through a judicial commission,” Kiyani told the protesting employees.

He alleged that Torghar Deputy Commissioner Javed Ali Orakzai attacked Tehsil Municipal officer Murtaza Ghulam Murtaza after he refused to accept illegal demand of handing him his department’s vehicle previously used by tehsil nazim of Kunder Hassanzai.

Ghulam Murtaza, who was allegedly attacked by Torghar Levies, said that though police lodged FIR against Levies personnel but DC, who was behind all this, was excluded from it.

The police lodged FIR against six Torghar Levies personnel but made no arrest. The commissioner of Hazara, Zaheerul Islam, on directives of chief secretary, had constituted a committee to probe the incident.
