PESHAWAR: Director General of the National Police Bureau, Ihsan Ghani, was appointed the National Coordinator for the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) on Friday.
“My priorities will be to speed up operations under the National Action Plan, revive Nacta and improve coordination between the stakeholders,” Ihsan Ghani told The News.
Nacta has recently been revived to make it active in playing an effective role in countering terrorism. The government wanted to improve the functioning of Nacta when the National Action Plan was conceived and approved in reaction to the December 16, 2014 attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in which 145 people including more than 130 schoolchildren were killed.
Ihsan Ghani, born in August 1958, joined the police force as ASP in 1989. He served as the Inspector General of Police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013 and introduced a number of reforms in the KP Police force.
