PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has welcomed the Election Commission of Pakistan’s scrutiny committee’s decision to hold a daily hearing of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a statement, the PML-N provincial spokesman Ikhtiar Wali said a hearing on a daily basis in the foreign funding case was a good development as the nation was waiting for early decision in the case.
He hoped the verdict in the case would prove better for the nation and country as people wanted to know from where money was transferred in the 23 bank accounts of the PTI and who had donated the money and for what purpose?
He said Imran Khan should resign so that he does not influence the institutions while remaining the prime minister.
The “selected” prime minister and his team should be ready for frisking as it was their turn now, he said, adding the PTI leaders should face accountability instead of making hue and cry.
The verdict in foreign funding case would prove the last nail in the coffin of PTI which accused other political parties of corruption and corrupt practices, he added.
He said institutions should play due role in strengthening democracy and upholding the rule of law in the country and it was only possible when the prime minister resigns to avoid influencing the institutions.
Regional rectors discuss higher education at roundtable
The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, in collaboration with Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Superior University and Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, held a regional rectors’ round-table on higher education.
The objective of the dialogue was to discuss the existing practices and propose strategies for improving the quality of graduates. The panellists deliberated seven thematic areas including Institutional Governance, Skill-Based Curriculum Development, Teaching Pedagogies, Instilling Leadership in Faculty, Monitoring, Reflection & Evaluation, Innovation Ecosystem and Internationalization of Higher Education & SDGs. The experts emphasised continuous interaction with the industry to develop the curriculum to meet the need of the market and industry. Establishment of venture capital for startups and platforms for interdisciplinary research by HEC were also recommended.
