LAKKI MARWAT: The patwaris and qanoongoyan Monday announced a strike against the police for setting free an accused who had misbehaved their officers.
A meeting to this effect was held here on Monday, with Patwaris Union president Muhammad Yousaf Khan in the chair and attended by the office-bearers.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Yousaf and Hussain Ahmed said that one Amir Nawaz exchanged harsh words and used foul language against patwari Naqeebullah and Naib Tehsildar Aminullah on August 13.
They said that taking serious notice of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Ihsanullah Khan ordered the police to arrest and book the accused.
They said that after arresting the accused, the police set him free on bail under Section 107, adding that the police became a party to the case and thus violated the directives earlier passed by the additional deputy commissioner, being a magistrate.
They announced to start pen-down strike for three days if the accused was not arrested again by the police and threatened to extend the strike if nothing was done.
