PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has called for a province-wide strike on Friday against unannounced and prolonged loadshedding.
A statement issued from the PTI’s provincial secretariat said the decision was taken at a meeting of the PTI leaders who believed that the federal government had failed to end loadshedding during Ramazan.
It said: “Loadshedding has surged in Ramazan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is deliberately being deprived of its due share in electricity. More than a thousand people have died because of severe heat and power outages in Karachi as well.”
PTI Secretary General Dr Haider Ali clarified that protests would be held in front of the press clubs in every district of the province. “The party workers will take to the streets to end prolonged loadshedding and also to express solidarity with the families of those who have died of the heat wave in Karachi,” he added.
