Talking to reporters at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Ali Akbar said that his son Umair was Hafiz-e-Quran and was a staunch supporter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He was actively involved in election campaign for the PTI candidate in the 2013 general election. The man alleged his son had been kidnapped by the opponents and since then he had been running from pillar to post but the local police station refused to register a FIR against the influential people.

However, a simple case was lodged in the police diary but even then no action was taken against any of the criminals. Ali Akbar complained that one imposter sought Rs2 millions from him for the recovery of his son, and claimed that he handed over one pick-up truck and Rs1,80,000 but to no avail.

He alleged that the local police were hands in glove with the kidnappers. The man appealed to the prime minister, chief of army staff, chief minister and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police to provide him justice by recovering his son.
