Three dead, 10 injured as truck overturns

PAKPATTAN: A speeding truck turned turtle near Chak 13-SP, Depalpur Road, killing three persons and injuring 10 others on Friday.

Reportedly, traders Nazeer and Imran of Okara along with 11 accomplices were coming to Pakpattan.

When they reached near Chak 13-SP on Depalpur Road, the truck driver tried to save a motorcyclist and hit a stationary roadside trailer. As a result, Jahangir, 35, Zeeshan, 35, and Mubashar, 35, of Okara were killed while 10 others – Abdullah, 35, Yasir, Mehtab, Rehmat and Fazal -were injured. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.Following the accident, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kamal reached the hospital and declared the emergency there. All the dead and injured belonged to Okara city.

He was addressing a meeting here on Friday. He ordered the officers concerned to complete 135 buildings of educational institutions, hockey stadium at Chak Nanikpur, boundary walls around the graveyard at Chak 59/EB, and women and children park at Arifwala. He said that the Animals Market at Arifwala City will be completed by a new contractor. He said that those contractors who use substandard material during the construction would be black-listed.
