FAISALABAD: The Agrarian Society of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Monday organised a weeklong sports gala.
The event was comprised of cricket, tug of war, football, handball, basketball, badminton, table tennis and race.
The sports gala was inaugurated by Agriculture Dean Dr Muhammad Aslam while Students Affairs Director Dr Shahbaz Talib Sahi, Hall Warden Dr Amjad Aulakh, Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Dr Waseem Akram, Dr Muhammad Arshad, Dr Dildar, Agrarian Society president Muhammad Irfan, sports secretary Muhammad Sajjad and others were also present.
Dr Muhammad Aslam said that the university would promote such activities to promote sports culture for a healthy society. He expressed his concern that sports activities were on the decline which was one of the cause of increasing ailment. He added that sports always help the players to excel their inner qualities.
Dr Shahbaz Talib said that there was a need to develop sportsman spirit in the youth so that they could meet the future challenges. He said that sports were essential not only for good health but also for a sound mind.
