Man shot dead for ‘honour’

FAISALABAD: A man murdered his brother-in-law for ‘honour’ at Chak 551/GB Mamoon Kanjun on Monday.

Nawaz Khan had contracted love marriage with the sister of accused Shan Ali some two years ago, which had infuriated him. On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly shot Nawaz dead and fled.

FCCI, Turkish firm ink MoU to attend Baku exhibition: Representatives of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) and a Turkish firm TÜMS AD (All Pakistan Industrialists and Businessman Association) Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to participate in the triangular exhibition scheduled from April 11 to 13, 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

TÜMS AD president Chaudhry Anees Iqbal and FCCI VP Mian Tanveer signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Addressing a function after the MoU signing ceremony, FCCI Senior Vice-President Mian Tanveer Ahmed said the chamber was providing best possible facilities to its members to enhance economic activities by participating in international fairs, exhibitions and expos, etc.

He said the Baku exhibition would provide an opportunity to Pakistani as well as Turkish and Azerbaijani industrialists to showcase their products and according to the MOU the TÜMS AD will provide 20 percent discount to exhibitors who will book their stalls through the FCCI.

Mian Tanveer said various products including pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, textile, leather, sports, sports wear, food, agriculture, auto parts, furniture and hand-knitted carpets could be displayed in the exhibition.

He said it would be a big opportunity for exporters as Azerbaijan had already accorded on line visa facility to the interested exhibitors and participants. He said one day has been dedicated for recreation trip in addition to the 3-days exhibition.

Moreover; B2B meetings could also be arranged for serious exporters. The FCCI leader said Pakistan was known because of its state-of-the-art textile products while other sectors were also contributing their role in overall export of the country.

He said FCCI members were also working with dedication to enhance national export while government had also announced a number of concessions and incentives for export sector. Mian further said Baku is strategically located from where buyers from Europe as well as land locked central Asian States could visit this exhibition in large numbers.

He briefly introduced TÜMS AD and said it is basically a Turkish firm with its office in Pakistan. He termed this scheduled exhibition as an opportunity to penetrate into the untapped markets of former USSR.

Assistant Secretary General Rana Shabbir Hussain, Ahsan Iqbal, Javed Iqbal Tabassum, Umar Sarwar, Shahid Mehmood, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Sami, Ahsan Ali Dogar, Muhammad Saeed, Ali Abass, Intekhab Alam, Qamar Abass, Nasim Ali, Muhammad Ali and representatives of TUMSATE were also present on the occasion,.

FWCCI TO ORGANISE SPRING FESTIVAL: Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI) Monday planned to organise a colorful spring festival in Fatima Jinnah Garden on March 22, 2019.

Chairing a meeting, FWCCI president Robeena Amjad, said the chamber was striving to involve women entrepreneurs in the national mainstream.

However, as a part of their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), it was also organizing this multi purposes festival cum exhibition. She said leading manufacturers would showcase their products in addition to the delicacies of the female entrepreneurs.

Robeena said a number of foreign ambassadors, prominent personalities, government officials and women who had excelled in their specific fields would also be invited to attend the event.

She said a music program would also be arranged. The meeting was also attended other members of the FWCCI.
