DIR: Over 3,500 security personnel will be deployed at 289 polling stations for the local government elections, an official said on Sunday. District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Israrudin Bacha told reporters that the security plan for the election had been finalised.
Around 165 polling stations had been declared sensitive in the district, he added. The DPO said that 3,226 police personnel including quick response force (QRF) and regular and special police force (SPF) would perform security duty during the elecion. He said Deputy Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Shaikh had committed to depute 300 Levies personnel to assist the police.
