PESHAWAR: Activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged protest here Saturday against the party decision to award the ticket to a newcomer, Taimoor Khan Jhagra to contest the election from provincial assembly constituency, PK-73.
The party workers carried banners and posters that carried the slogan that “Parachuter Namanzoor” (Parachuter is unacceptable). It meant that any person who has come to the party by parachute and made a candidate is not acceptable to them.
Taimoor Jhagra is the son of retired federal secretary Salim Khan Jhagra and is the grandson of late President GhulamIshaq Khan. He originally belongs to Jhagra village near Peshawar which is located in another constituency. The PTI leadership has tried to accommodate by fielding him in the PK-73 constituency, which primarily includes Hayatabad town and also Regi, Tajabad, Danishabad and other nearby localities.
More than 30 candidates from the PTI had applied for the ticket. They included two woman, Ayesha Bano and Summiya Baloch.
