ISLAMABAD: Country Directors of World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADP) in their separate meetings with finance minister Ishaq Dar here on Friday discussed the energy sector reforms and ADB’s $1b smart metering project.
The meeting between the minister and Rachid Benmessoud (WB) reviewed the state of reforms in the energy sector undertaken under the National Power Policy 2013. The reforms relate to improving sector performance and opening market to private sector participation, accountability and transparency. The meeting observed that considerable progress had been made in line with the development policy credits provided by the World Bank, ADB and JICA last year.
The finance minister was informed that World Bank operation’s committee would soon review the reforms process undertaken in the energy sector. He expressed satisfaction on the progress achieved so far and added World Bank would continue its support in terms of financing economic projects in Pakistan.
