PESHAWAR: The death of popular broadcaster and agricultural expert Dr Shafiullah Khan is being mourned by listeners and viewers all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

Dr Shafiullah Khan, who served as Director General Agriculture for Fata, came to be known as “Baba-i-Zaraat” due to his services for agriculture. He did popular Pashto programmes, “Kar Keela” and Bagh Barhay” on agriculture for farmers for a number of years on radio and television and earned fame. Farmers keenly waited for his programmes as these were simple to follow and understand.

After retirement, Dr Shafiullah Khan gradually faded from public memory as he turned to spiritualism and added Jalwi and Qadri to his name.

His Qul would be held today at his residence on Jamrud Lane, near Shaheen Chemists, opposite Town Police Station in Peshawar. The deceased was the father of Rafiullah Khan, lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar.
