PESHAWAR: The Senate Functional Committee on devolution on Friday visited the National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar.

Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Asif Khan gave a detailed briefing to the members of Senate committee. He said the Senate as a state institution must look into devolution process through balancing the federal and provincial input to cover the financial hazards posed to the University of Peshawar.

The VCs pointed out that upgrading of constituent colleges of the university had resulted in the problems. He pointed out to the visiting senators that study centres and centres of excellence at the University of Peshawar, if delinked from federal authorities, will greatly jeopardise the functioning of these institutions as independent centres.
