The boycott call was given by Gajju Medical College Teachers Association (GMCA).The main demand of the teachers is the Health Professional Allowance (HPA), which was announced by the government last year.

Sources said that the teachers held meeting in which the policy of the government was thoroughly discussed. The participants of the meeting unanimously decided to launch protest to press for acceptance of their demands, the sources added.

The teachers declared that delay in giving HPA was not acceptable to them. “There would be no out-door patients service, medical check of the patients, other health services and only emergency would be tackled by doctors in Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Shahmansoor,” said a doctor.Dr Asif Kamal, general secretary of the association, said that they would continue boycott of the classes and all other health services till the acceptance of their genuine demands.
