ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior and Narcotics Ch Nisar Ali Khan held a meeting here Saturday with media and political representative.
The minister said this while chairing a meeting held at Prime Minister’s office which attended by office bearers of Pakistan
Broadcasters Association (PBA), Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE), All Pakistan Newspapers Association (APNS), Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) and representatives of political parties of the country, said a press release.
Federal Minister for
Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui, Barrister Zafar Ullah Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed and Chairperson National Assembly Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marvi Memon were also present during the meeting.
The meeting fully supported National Action Plan (NAP) to combat the menace of terrorism in the country.
Media representatives unanimously expressed their resolve to play their role towards fighting of terrorism which is a national cause and for which the entire nation including media, political leadership, armed forces and the civil society stands united.
The media representatives expressed their confidence that through further strengthening mutual coordination and consultative process it would be able to fulfill its responsibilities, devotedly, with regards to the action plan.
It was decided to setup a governmental committee for strengthening coordination with media, headed by Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid, the committee would comprise of Special Assistant to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui and Minister of
State for Interior Baligh ur Rehman. Media committee would include heads of four media associations.
