4kg gold seized at airport

PESHAWAR: The Customs authorities on Monday recovered four kilograms of gold being smuggled through an international flight and arrested a man at the Bacha Khan International Airport.An official said the Customs authorities searched the luggage of a passenger of a Dubai-bound flight from and recovered four kilograms of gold. The authorities arrested the passenger and took the gold into custody.

Youth killed in Jamrud grenade attack

JAMRUD: A youth was killed and 14 other people sustained injuries when unidentified criminals hurled a hand-grenade at a hujra or male guest house in Ghareza area in Jamrud tehsil where a wedding ceremony was in progress, official sources said on Monday.They said that unidentified criminals threw a hand-grenade into the hujra of Torkhel in Ghareza area that left a youth Hameedullah dead and 14 other people injured.The sources said that a music programme was in progress in a marriage ceremony when the incident occurred. The sources said that attackers fled the scene. Later, the personnel of Khassadar force reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital.

Police car escapes bomb attack

PESHAWAR: A police patrolling car escaped a blast at the Pir Bala graveyard on the Warsak Road Monday. Initial reports said the bomb targeted the patrolling car of the Mathra Police Station. The Superintendent of Police Rural, Furqan Bilal, said the bomb had not been planted properly but was thrown in a nullah on the roadside. The official added the police vehicle was away from the site of the blast. No casualty was reported in the incident.
