Tribal jirga rejects reforms body report

CHARSADDA: Rejecting the report of the Fata Reforms Committee, Qabaili Amn Jirga Tuesday demanded resignation of the Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra after alleging that he had failed in protecting the rights of the tribespeople.

The jirga members, including Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sadiq, Mufti Ijaz Shinwari, Maulana Abdur Rehman, Maulana Gohar Shah and others, held the jirga at Darul Uloom Islamia in Charsadda.

They demanded reforms in the first phase and status of a separate province for Fata in the second phase.The speakers said that they would not accept any decision about Fata to be taken in Islamabad. They said that tribespeople should decide own future.They said that tribespeople had rejected the report of the Fata Reforms Committee. They vowed to foil any attempt to merge Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
