PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Friday that the provincial government was voted to power to eliminate corruption as people wanted good governance based on democratic values and justice.
This he said while talking to a representative delegation of Pakistan Bar Council, comprising Chaudhry Ishtiaq Ahmad, Shoaib Shaheen, Ghulam Mustafa and Abdus Sattar Khan, at the Chief Minister’s House here.
The secretary law and advocate general were also present on the occasion, said an official statement.The chief minister said that provision of justice and promotion of democratic values were common grounds, for which both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and lawyers had struggled.
The chief minister said the first thing he did after coming into power was overhauling the public sector institutions to improve their performance.“My efforts were resisted by the forces of the status quo but my team didn’t compromise on the welfare of public,” Pervez Khattak said.
He added that his government had empowered the people at the grassroots.Pervez Khattak maintained that the lawyer community was PTI’s ally and collective efforts would lead to the formation of a society based on justice, equality and merit.
The chief minister assured the delegation that the challenges and obstacles would never weaken his government’s resolve to fight for the rights of the poor.The lawyers also assured the chief minister that they would support the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in its efforts to promote justice and curb excesses against the underprivileged class of society.
