PO killed in Bannu encounter

BANNU: A proclaimed offender (PO) was killed during an encounter in cantonment area here on Thursday, official sources said.They said that acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Bozikhel in the limits of the Cantonment Police Station to arrest a PO identified as Noor Muhammad. As the police tried to enter his house, the accused opened fire on the raiding party.The police returned the fire and killed Noor Muhammad on the spot. The police also seized a Kalashnikov and ammunition from his possession.

50kg hashish seized in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: The police arrested a drug-trafficker and seized 50 kilograms of hashish from his possession in Risalpur area on Tuesday, official sources said.They said that acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of hashish, the police raided a cloth shop at Sain Mandi in the limits of the Risalpur Police Station and seized 50kg of hashish wrapped in the cloth bundles. The drug-trafficker identified as Amraiz left the cloth bundle loaded on a motorcycle and fled the scene.However, the police arrested his accomplice and sister-in-law identified as Shahzeb, son of Jehanzeb. The police registered the case and started investigation.

Two kids killed in Swat accident

MINGORA: Two boys were killed in a road accident at scenic Madian area in Swat district on Thursday, official sources said.They said schoolchildren identified as eight-year-old Zeeshan and nine-year-old Owais were on the way home when a speeding truck ran over them, leaving them critically injured.They succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. Taking action, the police arrested the truck driver whose name could not be ascertained and started investigation after registering the case.

Swat District Council fails to unveil annual budget

MINGORA: Swat District Council failed to unveil the annual budget for the financial year 2016-17 after members of the opposition and like-minded group walked out of the meeting over reservations on the document. The members of the like-minded group and opposition including Awami National Party councillors announced to continue the boycott of the council meeting until their reservations were removed about the budget document.

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday arrested an accused for allegedly depriving people of Rs114.25 million.A statement issued here said that the NAB arrested Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah, a property dealer and resident of Taxila, for allegedly depriving people of Rs114.25million through fraudulent means. “The accused in connivance with others forged ownership document of the land and defrauded general public of Rs114.25 million,” the communiqué said. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical custody. The people have been asked to submit their claim with relevant documents to the National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Two killed, one injured in Domail road mishap

BANNU: Two persons were killed and one injured in a read mishap near Dandi Pul in the limits of Domail Police Station here on Thursday, official sources said.

They said the deceased and injured were displaced persons from South Waziristan Agency.According to the details, two persons identified as Malay Khan and Amin Khan lost their lives while another Asghar Khan sustained injuries when a motorcar they were on board plunged into a deep ravine near Dandi Pul area in Domail.

Eyewitnesses said that the driver lost control of the steering while saving a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction. Later, the bodies and the injured were taken to Domail Rural Health Centre after authorities at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Memorial Hospital refused to accept them.
