Staffer recounts moment he wanted to punch Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

A story has just emerged that revealed there was one staffer who wanted to punch Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, square in the face for being rude.

The entire thing has been revealed by his unofficial biographer Andrew Lownie. The author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York explained the whole thing with a bit of background.

According to him Andrew would bark at his staff a lot, treating them as ‘subordinates’ rather than people in employment.

So much so that it led one member of staff Colin Burgess, a former equerry of the Queen Mother, to want to ‘deck’ (punch) the then-Duke.

He spoke to Express while explaining the whole thing and admitted, “I remember nearly telling him where to go. He looked at me and barked: 'You, wrap that!' and pointed to some object. I just thought, you rude, ignorant sod, and felt like decking him.”

At one point in the chat he also highlighted the distinction with which the Queen Mother treated her staff, in comparison to Andrew because in her eyes, they were “companions” but to Queen Elizabeth’s son “the staff “were just employees” to be kept in their place.

What is pertinent to mention regarding this is that Burgess isn’t the only staffer to recount such an experience. Ken Wharfe, who was a personal bodyguard to Princess Diana and her sons, said something similar.

He said, “unlike the rest of his family, Andrew has always proven to be a very arrogant individual. His manners are just awful, and his behavior and attitude, quite frankly, do not endear him to everybody.”
