CHAKDARA: A fruit vendor lost his life after being electrocuted by an 11,000-volt high-tension power line in Chakdara.

According to eyewitnesses, the vendor identified as Basirullah, a resident of the Afghan Camp in Chakdara, used to set up his fruit cart daily along the roadside in the Gulabad Bazaar. On the day of the incident, rainwater had accumulated on the road

In trying to drain the water using an iron rod, the object accidentally came into contact with a high powered transmission line, causing a fatal electric shock.

Basirullah had married a few months ago.

Local residents expressed anger over the lack of proper drainage along the Dir-Chitral Highway section of Gulabad, where business owners have encroached upon natural water channels. As a result, even moderate rainfall turned the road into a puddle.
