ABBOTTABAD: Girl students outshined boys in the Secondary School Certificate annual examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Abbottabad by securing all top positions in science and arts.
In the Science group, Sidra Saeed ur Rehman (Roll No. 175605) of Jinnah Jam-e-Public School and College, Haripur, secured first position with 1161 marks. Areeba Jadoon (Roll No. 175471), from the same institution, claimed second position with 1159 marks, while Zufishan Ahmed (Roll No. 192750) of Tameer-e-Wattan Public School and College, Mansehra, bagged third position with 1158 marks.
In the Arts group, students from government schools excelled. Areeba Nazir (Roll No. 171357) of Girls Higher Secondary School Sarai Saleh topped the group with 1069 marks. Anam Bibi (Roll No. 169072) of Government Girls High School Sarai Naimat Khan secured second position with 1050 marks, while Walija Khan (Roll No. 166067) of Girls High School Bagra achieved third position with 1044 marks.
The overall passing percentage stood at 60 for 9th grade and 80 for matriculation. A total of 7,661 students earned A1 grades, 1,410 secured A grades, 18,045 achieved B, 14,529 received C, 3,263 obtained D, and 18 were awarded E grades.
The results were announced during a ceremony held at the BISE Abbottabad auditorium. The event was chaired by BISE Chairman Abdul Majid Khan, alongside Controller of Examinations Professor Babar Ayaz Abbasi.
School heads, teachers, parents, and students attended the ceremony.
Cash prizes for the Science group toppers were announced as Rs70,000, Rs60,000, and Rs50,000 for first, second, and third positions respectively. The Arts group toppers were awarded Rs40,000, Rs30,000, and Rs20,000.
In his address, BISE Abbottabad Chairman Abdul Majid Khan lauded the Abbottabad Board’s consistent performance and highlighted its distinction in marking standards among provincial boards.
He announced that starting from 2026, results for grade 9 and 11 would be compiled through e-marking, and question papers would be aligned with the format of the answer sheets. He urged school heads to begin preparing students for this new system to ensure a smooth transition.
