Ron Howard reacts to first Emmy nomination for acting

Ron Howard, who has scored many awards and nominations over the years for his direction, was surprised when he learnt about his first Emmy nomination for acting.

The 71-year-old earned the first nod in 2025 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for comedy series, The Studio.

The Golden Globe winner told People Magazine, “I play an a------ version of myself. Apparently, it went over. I have many noms and even some wins on the producing and directing side, but first nom as an actor, which is kind of funny.”

Howard added, “I’m getting a kick out of it,” speaking of his 14th Primetime Emmys nod.

The actor has previously won three of his 13 nominations for Jim Henson Idea Man in 2024 (Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program), Arrested Development in 2004 (Outstanding Comedy Series) and From The Earth to the Moon in 1998 (Outstanding Miniseries).

The Studio has earned 23 nominations this year, with many of Howard’s fellow guest stars competing in the same category as him, including Dave Franco, Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie.
