MIRANSHAH: The residents of Razmak area on Sunday staged a protest to seek solution to their problems, including provision of potable water, education and health facilities.
The protest was attended by local elders, political representatives, youth and civil society members.Speaking to protesters, Samiullah and Shaheenur Rehman said that the residents of Razmak were facing severe difficulties in accessing clean drinking water.
They said that people were desperate for even a drop of water in Razmak Bazaar and surrounding villages but the relevant authorities had turned a blind eye to the issue.The elders warned the elected representatives and the relevant departments the situation could become more serious if immediate steps were not taken.
They criticised the authorities for not providing education and health facilities to the residents.The protesters also raised concerns about irregularities in the recent internship programme in North Waziristan, alleging that merit was violated in the selection process.
As a result, talented and deserving youth were ignored. The concerns raised after the selection process led to the cancellation of the related orders. The protesters demanded that the selection process be restarted in a transparent and merit-based manner so that injustice can be undone and every individual was given an opportunity based on qualifications.
