PESHAWAR: The local police on Tuesday arrested two individuals for allegedly manufacturing and dealing in counterfeit currency.
Superintendent of Police (City) Syed Atiq Shah told reporters that the two accused, Murad and Taj Muhammad-originally from Shabqadar and Gulbahar and currently residing in Mohmandabad-were taken into custody.
The official said the suspects had set up a counterfeit currency factory in a house located in the Mohmandabad area.He added that the arrested individuals were involved in distributing the fake currency to various cities after producing it. The police recovered counterfeit Pakistani currency worth Rs1.2 million along with equipment used in the operation, including printers, drying machines, special paper, cutters, printing plates, and lasers.
