PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday took serious notice of the reported incident in which a student allegedly died due to corporal punishment by a teacher in a private school in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district.

An official communique said the chief minister directed the authorities concerned to submit a detailed report on the incident.

He asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry and submit its findings at the earliest. The chief minister said that strict action would be taken if the incident was confirmed.

He stated that corporal punishment of children in educational institutions was a serious crime under the law and an intolerable act. Those found guilty, he said, deserve no leniency and would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. The chief minister also directed the officials and institutions to take effective measures to prevent such incidents in schools.
