PESHAWAR: A lawyer affiliated with the Awami National Party (ANP) on Friday sent a legal notice to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd) Hafizur Rehman for allegedly using derogatory language against the nationalist party’s president Aimal Wali Khan during a committee meeting.

The notice was sent by Advocate Tanveer Shehzad, president of the Lahor Tehsil Bar in Swabi district, who is also a member of the ANP. In the notice, Advocate Shehzad stated that the remarks made by the PTA chairman were offensive and disrespectful towards Aimal Wali Khan, a prominent political figure both nationally and internationally.

He further claimed that such remarks not only damaged the reputation of Aimal Wali Khan but also hurt the dignity of party members, including himself. The legal notice demands that Hafizur Rehman issue a public apology through the media within 15 days. “Failure to comply with the demand would result in a defamation lawsuit seeking Rs100 million in damages,” the notice warns.
