PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday granted 20-day transit bail to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, barring authorities from arresting him during this period.
The case was heard by Acting Chief Justice SM Attiqe Shah, who presided over a single bench. Asad Qaiser was represented by advocates Asif Babar and Yahya Amin Khan, who informed the court that multiple FIRs had been registered against their client and that there was a genuine concern he could be arrested before appearing in court.
The bench inquired about the number of FIRs filed, to which the counsel responded that 15 cases had been registered against Asad Qaiser.In a separate hearing, a two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed heard another petition filed by Asad Qaiser seeking details of the cases registered against him. His lawyer, Arshad Nowsheravi, told the court that despite a previous order providing case details, 15 new FIRs have since been registered, and updated information is being requested.
