PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a two-year exemption from mountaineering taxes for expeditions attempting to summit peaks in the Hindu Kush mountain range within the province.
According to a notification issued by Habibullah Arif, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), the government has declared 2025 as the “Year of Tirich Mir” to mark the 75th anniversary of the first successful ascent of the Tirich Mir peak in 1950.
To celebrate this diamond jubilee, various events will be organized at the base camp of Tirich Mir, along with expeditions to the peak itself.With the approval of Chief Minister Ali Amin, KPCTA has waived all mountaineering taxes for peaks within the Hindu Kush range in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the years 2025 and 2026.
