Leaves of all govt employees cancelled in Bajaur

KHAR: The district administration on Thursday directed all the government employees, including the personnel of police and other law-enforcing agencies, to cancel their leaves and ensure immediate presence at their respective stations.

A meeting regarding district emergency coordination was with Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali in the chair.The meeting was attended by District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shahid Rafiq Gandapur, District Health Officer Dr Gohar Ayub, Assistant Education Officer Nazir Malakhel, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Amjad Khan, an official of army and other relevant department officials.

A detailed briefing was given on the emergency preparedness of all departments. The DC instructed that all officers and personnel must cancel their leaves and ensure immediate presence at their designated stations.

Rescue 1122 and the health department must keep ambulances ready at all times, while the presence of doctors and other medical staff in hospitals must be ensured with duty rosters prominently displayed.

Assistant Commissioners were directed to conduct regular visits to hospitals and inspect the available facilities. The Civil Defence Department was instructed to share staff lists with the administration. All departments were directed to establish control rooms to ensure uninterrupted communication. A control room is also being set up in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Availability of medicines in hospitals must be ensured at all costs.

The DPO informed the meeting that security at sensitive locations had been upped and the emergency plan was being implemented. “The police department remains on high alert and is fully prepared to deal with any situation,” he said.

The Education and Communication and Works departments to provide a list of shelter points, while the Food Department is to ensure the availability of essential food items.It was further directed that landline numbers of control rooms be shared to prevent communication issues in case of wireless or mobile signal disruptions. All departments must ensure mutual cooperation and a prompt response.
