Police, Rescue 1122 put on alert after Indian attack

PESHAWAR: Police, district administration and Rescue 1122 have been put on alert to help the public in case of emergency as people took to streets to express solidarity with the armed forces after the attack by India.

Police officials said that leaves of all the emergency staff in some districts have been cancelled and they were directed to report to their departments.An official of the Rescue 1122 said all the stations have been put on high alert since the wee hours of Wednesday to deal with any emergency situation in any area. The heads of different districts held emergency meetings and directed the Rescue workers to be on alert in case of any need to save lives.

Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed said the KP Police stand by the nation and the armed forces. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police would play its important role in supporting the armed forces and maintaining law and order during the time.

The IGP directed the officers and jawans of KP Police to remain present and ready at their respective stations to deal with any emergency situation. They were directed to remain in Coordination with the military authorities in their jurisdiction and provide assistance as per operational requirements and intelligence information.

The IGP said police have to fulfill its responsibility of maintaining law and order, keep a check on terrorist activities and protect key infrastructure, communication networks, power houses and other installations.

Meanwhile, the traders, political workers and people from different walks of life took to the streets in Peshawar and many districts to announce support to the armed forces against Indian aggression.

A rally was held at historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar under the leadership of Malik Mehr Elahi, president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Traders Association.The rally was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Fazal Elahi, and was led by Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram. He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azim, Assistant Commissioner Dawood Salimi, Additional Assistant Commissioner Syed Basharat Hussain, and Additional Assistant Commissioner Aamir Shehzad.

Another rally on Ring Road also expressed complete support to the army and other forces.The lawyer community held emergency meetings to announce support to the government and forces. A rally was also brought out to express support to the armed forces.

Besides, the district administration across the province has been directed to help people in case of emergency.A massive solidarity rally was held at the historic Bab-e-Khyber in district Khyber, where tribal elders, local government representatives, police, line departments and the district administration gathered to denounce Indian aggression and express unwavering support for the armed forces of Pakistan.

During the rally at Bab-e-Khyber, a large number of tribal leaders, youth, political and social figures and district officials took part, waving Pakistani flags and holding banners with slogans like “Long Live Pakistan,” “Long Live armed forces,” and “Indian Aggression Unacceptable.” The participants condemned India’s hostile actions and praised the Pakistani military’s heroic defense.

In Mardan, the district administration took out a rally against the Indian aggression and in support of the Pakistan army at Bacha Khan chowk. Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Azmatullah Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi, other officials and representatives of different trader organisations led the rally. In Upper Dir, hundreds of people took part in a rally in Dir against Indian aggression and support of the Pakistan Army. The protesters vowed to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Pakistan Army and fight against India.
