MANSEHRA: The police arrested a woman while in a bid to dump her husband’s body in a stream with the help of two men in the Kotkay area here on Tuesday.

“We have arrested three suspects, including a woman, who killed a man in Islamabad and secretly transported his body to dump it in a local stream,” District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters.

The incident came to light when residents of Kotkay village confronted a group of strangers who were attempting to bury a body after digging a hole in the streamside.

When locals questioned them, the driver of the car, in which the body was transported from Islamabad in the trunk, tried to flee and slightly injured a resident, but the villagers managed to overpower all the three suspects and called the police.

Gandapur said that the suspects were taken to the police station, where they confessed to the crime, admitting that they had transported the body in the car’s trunk to secretly bury it.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Salman, who was allegedly murdered within the jurisdiction of the Khana Pull Police Station in Islamabad. The DPO added that one of the two arrested suspects who initially fled the scene was later arrested and taken into custody.

The suspects arrested include Ali Rehman and Lissan Said Khan, both residents of Mohammad tribal district and Rehana Bibi, the wife of the slain man.
