PESHAWAR: The Hayatabad jogging and cycling track, the first of its kind in the area, has been completed under Phase-II of the Peshawar Uplift Programme, which will be formally inaugurated this month by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Commissioner Riaz Mahsud, who is supervising the project, visited the site to review final preparations and joined project engineers for a test walk along the track.Developed along the Hayatabad Khwar, the six-kilometre long facility is the first of its kind in the region, designed to promote healthy recreational activities in an urban green setting.

Built to modern specifications, the track includes rest areas at every kilometre, each equipped with open-air gym equipment, public washrooms, tuck shops, and other essential amenities. The track itself is 20 feet wide, flanked on both sides by five-foot greenbelts planted with tall trees and ornamental shrubs to enhance the environment and reduce air pollution.

Commissioner Riaz Mahsud said work on the remaining two sections of the project is progressing swiftly, with over 70 percent completed. He noted that the initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to public health, environmental sustainability, and the transformation of urban infrastructure for the benefit of residents.
