Martyred cops laid to rest in Bannu

BANNU: The cops martyred in firing with the terrorists were laid to rest in their respective native towns in the district with state honours following the funeral prayers at the Bannu Police Lines on Thursday.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Binyamin Khan, Constable Inam Khan and Constable Masoor Khan, who had martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists, were laid to rest after the funeral rites held at Bannu Police Lines.

The funeral was attended by AIG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Shaukat Abbas, Regional Police Officer, Bannu, Sajjad Khan, District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kulachi, Commissioner Bannu, SP CTD, civil and military officials and a large number of relatives of the martyrs.

Floral wreaths were laid on the flag-draped coffins of the martyrs by the AIG, RPO, DPO, SP CTD, and Assistant Commissioner, followed by special prayers for the martyred cops.The martyred personnel, including ASI Binyamin Khan, Constable Inam Khan, and Constable Masoor Khan, were serving in the CTD. They had embraced martyrdom in an encounter with the terrorists the previous night.

Two other cops identified as Wafid and Imran had sustained injuries, who are now under treatment at the hospital.In the retaliatory action by the police, two terrorists were also killed, while several others were injured.Later, the bodies of the martyred cops were transported to their native areas, where they were laid to rest with state honours.
