NOWSHERA: Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Affairs Pervez Khattak said on Friday that his current position was not earned through public votes and therefore he held no responsibility for addressing public issues in Nowshera.

Speaking at a ceremony where he administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the Risalpur Traders Association, Khattak said that the people had chosen their representatives through votes, and now it was up to them to solve their problems.

“The people of Nowshera have elected those they trusted. Now they should turn to them,” Khattak remarked. He expressed disappointment over being rejected by the same people he claimed to have served tirelessly in the past. “I devoted myself to public service, day and night, but now I have been cast aside by the same voters,” he said.

He added that he would only serve those who had remained loyal to him. “From now on, I will not do any favours without receiving a vote in return. Those who stood by me will continue to be my priority,” he stated firmly.

Khattak said that any public expectations from him were now misplaced, and that responsibility had shifted to those who had been elected in the last polls. “Let those who have won now build the roads, open schools, and run the hospitals,” he said.

“The time will come when the people will realize who truly served them and who merely made hollow promises,” he said. “If the reward for my service is rejection, then the loss is not mine-it is that of the people of Nowshera.”
