QUETTA: A spokesperson for the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has stated that the neighboring country, Iran, has reduced the electricity supply quota for the Makran Division.

As a result, additional load management is being carried out in all areas of the Makran Division connected to the 132kV Pishin-Mand and 132kV Polan-Jiwani transmission lines. The spokesperson further mentioned that 20MW electricity is being supplied from the 132kV Pishin-Mand line, and another 20MW from the 132kV Polan-Jiwani transmission lines. Due to the reduction in the electricity supply quota, additional loadshedding is taking place in the relevant areas of the Makran Division.

The spokesperson expressed hope that the situation will return to normal once the electricity quota from Iran is increased, after which the additional loadshedding in all areas of the Makran Division will be immediately discontinued. However, during this period, Qesco has apologised to consumers in Makran and has appealed for their cooperation.
