PESHAWAR: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday directed that public grievances related to Wapda during the summer season should be addressed urgently.
He issued these directives during a meeting with Pesco Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan and other officials at the Governor’s House. SE Zubair Kundi and several other officials were also present.
Governor Kundi said that the need to resolve the shortage of transformers before the peak summer heat and called for an end to unnecessary and unannounced loadshedding.He expressed serious concern over growing complaints from Dera Ismail Khan, where electricity supply is being disrupted for hours due to deliberate disconnections.
He also condemned the allegedly harsh behavior of Wapda officials in Paharpur, Dera City, and Parova, labeling it as unacceptable and demanding immediate corrective action.During the meeting, it was also decided that the long-awaited Band Kurai Grid Station will be inaugurated later this month.
Meanwhile, Governor Kundi said that compared to many countries, media in Pakistan is free, including social media, but responsible use is essential.Speaking to a delegation from the Mardan Social Media Press Club led by provincial president Abdullah Abid, he stressed that the defamation and spreading unverified information must stop. He urged journalists to remain neutral and responsible.Kundi highlighted PPP’s commitment to media freedom and nationalinterest above personal differences.
