Malgari Wakeelan, ILF sweep bar polls

PESHAWAR: As expected, the Malgari Wakeelan and the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) have swept the Peshawar District Bar Association elections, winning all key positions.

According to the official results, Qaiser Zaman, the joint candidate of Malgari Wakeelan and ILF for the slot of president, secured 1,112 votes. His closest rival, Maulana Shamsul Haq of the Grand Alliance managed to receive 624 votes.

For the slot of general secretary, Zahidullah Zahid grabbed 872 votes against 851 of his rival Ashfaq Khan Akhunkhel of the Grand Alliance.

The other office-bearers of the association include Saifullah Khalil, vice-president, Nangyal Zaib, joint secretary and Faizanullah Chamkani, finance secretary while Ali Iqbal Qazalbash, Faisal Khan, Mehwish Sana Siddiq and Shahzaib Rahim Khan were elected as executive members of the association.
