MANSEHRA: A youth was killed and three others sustained injuries when a motorcycle was hit by a landslide in Upper Kohistan on Thursday.
“We have retrieved the body of a motorcyclist from the landslide,” Deputy Commissioner of Upper Kohistan, Tariq Ali Khan, told reporters.A motorcycle carrying three cricketers was on its way to a local stadium via the Karakoram Highway when boulders detached from a nearby mountain rolled over them, burying all three under the rubble. Locals rushed to the scene and retrieved the dead and injured, shifting them to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dasu.
The doctors pronounced Sajjad Hussain dead, while the other two were hospitalised after receiving emergency treatment.According to locals, the cricketers participated in a tournament organised by villagers as part of Eid celebrations, with various teams from nearby villages participating.
In another incident, one man was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries when a Swat-bound car plunged into a deep ravine in the Shori Das area of Upper Kohistan.Locals immediately responded, rescuing the injured and transporting them to DHQ Hospital Dasu, where doctors pronounced Ghulam Khaliq dead.The two seriously injured passengers, Farmanullah and Naqeebullah, were later referred to the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad for treatment.
