PESHAWAR: Authorities have announced a large-scale operation to remove encroachments from Nasir Bagh Road in an effort to ease traffic congestion ahead of the Northern Bypass’s scheduled completion on March 30.
A joint survey involving the district administration, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), National Highway Authority (NHA), and the Irrigation Department has been ordered to assess the extent of encroachments.
Officials have been given 48 hours to submit their findings, after which the operation is set to begin next week.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, which was attended by officials from relevant departments.
The Northern Bypass, connecting Nasir Bagh Road to Warsak Road, is set to become a major route for vehicles traveling to and from Karkhano Market and Khyber district, necessitating immediate action to remove encroachments.
The plan also includes installing and repairing sodium lights along the road to enhance visibility.
