ALPURI: Four more miners died in Hangu and Darra Adamkhel coalmines were laid to rest in different areas of Shangla district on Sunday.
In the past three days, the bodies of 10 colliers from Shangla have been brought back. The funeral prayers for four of them were held in Shahpur and Lelonai areas.Among these bodies, one was from Shahrag, Quetta, Balochistan, while two were from Darra Adamkhel and one from Hangu district.
Local residents said that most of these 10 coal miners left behind widows and orphan children.On Saturday, the collective funeral prayers were offered for six out of seven colliers, who had embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack in Shahrag, Quetta, on Friday last.
Gloom prevailed in Shangla after seven mineworkers belonging to the district were martyred in an explosion in Harnai, Balochistan.The explosion targeted a vehicle carrying coal miners in which 11 workers were martyred and several others injured. According to initial reports, an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted by the roadside and detonated as the pickup truck carrying the miners passed through the area.
