PESHAWAR: The family members, relatives, and representatives of the provincial peace jirga staged a protest to demand the release of Rescue 1122 official Safeerullah, who is currently imprisoned in a jail in Attock.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. The protest was led by Safeerullah’s brother, children, relatives, and members of the Provincial Peace Jirga. The demonstrators carried banners and placards featuring images of Safeerullah’s son, who reportedly passed away due to the grief of his father’s imprisonment. They chanted slogans against the Chief Minister and the Director General of Rescue 1122.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Peace Jirga’s District President Zakaullah Zahid stated that Safeerullah was following official orders when he took an ambulance to a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally. “He was simply complying with directives from higher authorities, and it was not his personal decision,” he emphasized.
General Secretary of the Peace Jirga, Noor Khan, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of Safeerullah’s son, saying, “One of his children has already died from grief. The remaining children should not have to suffer. Mercy should be shown to them,” he added.
Safeerullah’s brother, Karamatullah, appealed to the authorities, saying, “His wife and children wait for him every day. We urge the Prime Minister and all relevant officials to show compassion and ensure his release.” The protesters reiterated their demand for Safeerullah’s immediate release, warning that if their plea was ignored, they would march toward the Chief Minister’s House in protest.
